A downbeat Nico Rosberg says his whole weekend was “pear-shaped” after he was forced to retire from the Italian Grand Prix with three laps to go.
Rosberg had fought his way up to third after falling to sixth after the start and says he felt he could have passed Sebastian Vettel for second had he not retired.
With team-mate Lewis Hamilton now 53 points ahead in the drivers’ championship Rosberg admits it will be “very difficult” to make up the difference, but promises he won’t give up.
