20 October 2020: Staying true to the DStv Premiership’s “Babize Bonke” spirit – a call for all South Africans to gather around the beautiful game – Africa’s Most-loved Storyteller will offer all its subscribers access to its exclusive SuperSport channels to watch the opening matches of the DStv Premiership via the DStv App (previously known as DStv Now) at no additional cost.
DStv was announced in September as the title sponsor for the Premier Soccer League in a five-year deal beginning in season 2020/21. DStv will be opening the full spectrum of SuperSport channels to all its customers from 24 to 25 October to celebrate the start of the new season.
All DStv customers will be able to indulge in a weekend of local football as they watch South Africa’s most formidable clubs begin their 210-game journey to see who will be crowned the first-ever DStv Premiership champions.
Although many eyes will be on soccer, the additional access means that subscribers will also experience an incredible line-up of other sports including Vodacom SuperRugby Unlocked, New Zealand’s Mitre 10 Cup, PGA and LPGA golf, Formula 1 and the Giro d’Italia.

During the lockdown DStv opened its Premium-exclusive content to a wider pool of its customers through Open Window viewing periods. In March, SuperSport 1 as well as SuperSport 7 were made available to DStv Compact Plus, DStv Compact and DStv Family, DStv Access.
SuperSport recently introducing dedicated a 24-hour channels for leagues and sports, among them the PSL, the Premier League, La Liga, rugby, cricket, golf, tennis and motorsports to allow each sport discipline to have a home of its own.
