Andrew Strauss and Geoffrey Boycott have been knighted in Theresa May’s resignation honours list for service to sport on Monday.

Strauss’ on-field achievements include being the only English captain to have won an away Ashes series in the past 32 years, beating Australia 3-1 in the series Down Under (2010-2011). Off the field, Strauss has undertaken some charity work in honour of his late wife Ruth.

Boycott holds an illustrious cricket pedigree, he is one of only four men to score more than 151 first class centuries. His knighthood does come with some controversy, as he was convicted in France (1998) for assaulting his former girlfriend and received a fine and suspended sentence.
