Top seed Rafael Nadal didn’t get to finish his match on Monday after being postponed in the third set, up 6-4, 6-3, 0-3 against Italy’s Simone Bolelli.

Novak Djokovic, the No. 20 seed, looked in fine form as he tries once again to regain his footing as a top player on the tour. He took down Rogerio Dutra Silva in straight sets in his opener, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. On the women’s side, Caroline Wozniacki, the second seed, made short work of American Danielle Collins.

Wozniacki hit 20 winners and had just 13 unforced errors compared to Collins’ 41, and she won in straight sets, 7-6(2), 6-1. Djokovic himself made plenty of errors in his win over Dutra Silva, with 36 unforced errors to Dutra Silva’s 32. But Djokovic hit 37 winners and converted on six of 11 break point attempts.

Former top three player, Stan Wawrinka, was pushed to five sets and then defeated by Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, 6-2, 3-6, 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-3. Wawrinka is still having injury issues with his knee, and now he’s out of a tournament he’s historically performed well in.

Dominic Thiem, the seventh seed and one of the very few people that can hang with Nadal on clay, bested Ilya Ivashka in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, 6-1. Petra Kvitoa, the women’s eighth seed, needed three sets but ultimately defeated Veronica Cepede Royg.
