Thirteenth seed Novak Djokovic was knocked out of Monte Carlo Masters by seventh seed Dominic Thiem on Thursday.
The two time Monte Carlo Masters Champion, Djokovic, was looking to continue with his fine run in France when he squared up against Thiem in the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters.
The first set was a tightly contested affair as Novak Djokovic was on the back foot, but the Serbian clawed his way back and took the first set 7-6 (7-2 tie-break). A highly motivated Thiem was not prepared to go down without a fight as he levelled matters in the second set, 6-2 to Thiem.
The Austrain proved too strong for the Serb as he took the third and final set, 6-3.
Djokovic has not reached a tournament semi-final since last year July.
