Cricket –

On going – Australia ended Day 3 on 180 for five, with a lead of 41 runs.

England cruised to a seven wicket win over New Zealand in the ODI decider in Christchurch on Saturday. England win the Series 3 – 2

West Indies beat Ireland by 52 runs in the World Cup Qualifier.

Football –

Nedbank Cup results, Kaizer Chiefs beat Stellenboch FC 2 – 1, Royal Eagles 1 – 2 Maritzburg United, Bloem Celtic 3 – 1 Richards Bay.

Premier League: Marcus Rashford scored twice as Manchester United beat their arch-rivals Liverpool 2-1 in a highly-charged derby on Saturday to consolidate second place in the Premier League table. Other results, Arsenal 3 – 0 Watford, Chelsea 2 – 1 Crystal Palace, Bournemouth 1 – 4 Tottenham.

Rugby –

Six Nations, England suffered their second defeat against France over the weekend, losing 22 – 16. Wales 34 – 14 Italy, Ireland 28 – 8 Scotland.

Super Rugby: The Auckland Blues upset the Lions at home with a 38 – 35 win at Emirates Airline Park on Saturday. Hurricanes 29 – 19 Crusaders, Sharks 50 – 22 Sunwolves, Reds 20 – 14 Blue Bulls, Highlanders 33 – 15 Stormers, Jaguares 38 – 28 Waratahs.

Athletics –

Caster Semenya on Thursday smashed the South African 1000m record that stood for 35 years at the Athletics Grand Prix meeting held at Tuks in Pretoria.
Anaso Jobodwana has won the 150m race at the Athletix Grand Prix meeting with world champion Justin Gatlin, only managing to finish in fourth place.

Tennis –

Serena Williams shook off her 15 month layoff with a convincing win over Zarina Diyas, 7-5 6-3.

She will face her sister Venus in next round on Tuesday.
