FNB Wits kept up with the pace in the first half with two tries of their own from Constant Beckerling and a seven-point try from Daniel Kapepula, along with the conversions for each.
Both sides took their Power Plays in the first half but neither side managed to capitalise on their two-man advantage.
FNB Wits came out in the second half on a mission but couldn’t convert all their possession besides a solitary try from Cecil Conradie to lead 20-23 before the strategy break at 60 mins.
After the strat break, they came out strong to score another seven-point try with the conversion to lead 32-20 before FNB Madibaz came back with a seven-point try of their own. And although they fought hard in the end to try take the win, the defence of the away side did enough to hold on to the tight win.
FNB Madibaz lock Henry Brown walked away with the FNB Player That Rocks award for his strong performance in the forwards for the losing side.
