South Africa ended Day 1 having lost the wicket of Aiden Markram for six runs. They then sent in a night watchman in Kagiso Rabada before stumps. Rabada proved to be a nuisance for the bowling team and built a solid partnership of 64 runs with Hashim Amla on the second day.

Rabada went out for 30 runs from 84 balls whilst Amla went on to score 61 runs from 121 deliveries. Proteas were bowled out for 194 with a lead of 7 runs. Pick of the bowlers for India, Bumrah took 5 for 54 and Kumar took 3 for 44.
