Bafana Bafana coach Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba says he is satisfied with the squad he has selected for their opening FIFA World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso on Saturday evening.
The squad assembled at their base in Milpark on Sunday evening, and started their first training session at 15h00 this afternoon, before departing for Ouagadougou via Abidjan on Tuesday at 13h30.
With pressure building on the national team coach, as South Africa will need to jump out of the starting blocks in their qualification race to Russia 2018, Mashaba believes he has assembled the best possible squad on paper.
“This is the right team on paper, that we have selected to make sure we definitely get the positive result into the start [of the World Cup qualifying campaign],” Mashaba confidently said during a press conference on Monday morning.
