The former Proteas all-rounder has taken his former employers to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) over his contract termination two months ago.
Klusener signed a two-year contract with an option to renew for a year in 2014 after the Dolphins enjoyed a reasonable season. But he was fired with two months left.
Klusener said it was the only option available to him.
“KZN cricket failed to pitch for conciliation, therefore this is the route I had to take,” Klusener said.
Dolphins chief executive Pete de Wet confirmed they received notification from the CCMA but said this was something they expected. He also said he did not know when arbitration would take place.
“When people move on, some decide to take this route so it’s not a surprise,” he said.
