Richard Murray’s procession of podium finishes continued at the weekend as he won the ITU World Cup event in Cozumel, Mexico.
The South African has now made the podium in four successive events, starting off with the Rio test event in Brazil, then the WTS event in Edmonton, Canada and lastly the WTS Grand Final in Chicago, Us.
His last triumph saw him blitzing to victory in 55min 03sec for the sprint event (750-metre swim 20km bike ride and 5km run).
That put him 11 seconds clear of Canadian runner-up Kyle Jones and a further second head of third placed Gabor Faldum of Hungary.
The only other South African in action was Wian Sullwald who was 1:13 behind Murray, in 33rd position.
Murray has certainly made himself one of the medal favourites for next year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
