Hockey: 

The Proteas men’s and women’s hockey team continued with their African dominance after winning the 2017 African Hockey Cup of Nations. The women’s side won their seventh consecutive Africa Cup by beating Ghana in the final with a comfortable 4 – 0 win.  The men’s team left it late after coming back from a goal down to beat Egypt 2 – 1, this is the eight consecutive African Cup win for the South African men’s hockey team. They also qualify for 2018 FIH World Cup.

Formula 1:

Max Verstappen won the Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday, the race belonged to Max Verstappen but the day belonged to Lewis Hamilton after clinching his fourth world title as he finished in ninth position in Mexico.

Cricket: 

David Miller hit an impressive 101 runs from 36 balls, the fastest hundred in T20 International cricket helping South Africa beat Bangladesh by 83 runs in the third and final T20 series. South Africa win the series 3 – 0

India beat New Zealand by 6 runs in third ODI to clinch the series 2 -1.

Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 36 runs in their T20 International

Football: 

The biggest upsets came from the Telkom Knockout competition over the weekend and La Liga. Mamelodi Sundowns lost 1 – 0 to Chippa United in Mdantsane on Sunday and Bloemfontein Celtic came back from two goals down and beat Supersport United 5-4 on penalties (2 – 2).

Real Madrid lost 2 – 1 to recently promoted Girona.

Rugby:

Western Province dominated the second half against the Sharks in the Currie Cup final on Saturday to be crowned the 2017 Currie Cup Champions. They beat the Durban side 33 – 21, scoring 18 unanswered points.

Canterbury beat Tasman Makos 35 – 13 to win the 2017 Mitre 10 Cup
