Netball:

A historic result was achieved by Spar Proteas on Sunday when they beat England 54-51 in a Quad Series match, in Invercargill, New Zealand. This is the first ever victory for Spar Proteas team in the Series and their first win over England since 2013. Norma Plummer and Bongi Msomi have done tremendous work in elevating this South African team to new heights.

Tennis:

South Africa’s Kevin Anderson blasts his way into the US Open quarter finals with a 6-4 6-3 6-7 6-4 victory over Paolo Lorenzo,  in a match that took two hours and 57 minutes. Anderson will meet either Sam Querry or Mischa Zverev in the last eight.

US Open WILDCARD Maria Sharapova was knocked out on Sunday by Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia, losing 5-7 6-4 6-2.

Formula One:

Lewis Hamilton has done the unthinkable in 2017 formula one season, winning back to back Grand Prix. Hamilton who broke Michael Schumacher’s pole position record by claiming his 69th pole position in Monza, Italy. On Sunday, he went on to win the Italian Grand Prix and took the drivers Championship lead for the first time in 2017.

Bafana Bafana

Stuart Baxter’s men blew their chances to take control of Group D after they went down to the Blue Sharks 2-1 on Friday night. On Tuesday they meet Cape Verde for their second leg match of the World Cup Qualifiers. Only two points separate the teams in the group.

Rugby:

Kings and Cheetahs were taught some tough lessons in their first taste of European Rugby this past weekend. Kings lost 57-10 to the Scarlets and Cheetahs lost 42-19 to Ulster.
