South Africa has cleared the tables at the 2016 World Blackball Championships in Killarney, Ireland. A large team made the trip (with the assistance of sponsorship by Carling Black Label and United Pool Tables) and returned with a sensational six gold medals, making it the best ever performance by a South African team at a World Championships. The gold medals came in the Under-23 team category, women’s team, U23 men’s doubles, U23 women’s doubles, and U23 speed pool (men and women). The team were accompanied by SA Confederation of Cue Sport (SACCS) president Saths Reddy. World Championships are held every two years with the last Championships being hosted by Perth, Scotland and the next being in Melbourne, Australia in 2018.
