Liverpool have no killer instinct.
Liverpool showed once again this weekend that they are a team without killer instinct. They dominated Tottenham and should have won comfortably but ended up getting over the line for a point. They showed the same lack of assassin like qualities against Arsenal when, at 4-1 up, should have put 6 or 7 past Arsenal.
Amartey could be the answer.
Daniel Amartey was immense in Kante role for Leceister this weekend and could be the long term answer to the hole left by the Frenchman. He was tireless in winning the ball back and kept his passing simple and neat and tidy and so Leceister ticked over. Amartey and Leceister will be tested by Liverpool but with a midfield 3 that has no recognised holding midfielder, Amartey could really dominate the reds in the physical exchanges in midfield
Rashford is the real deal.
Marcus Rashford came off the bench this weekend and highlighted his predatory instincts once again. Manchester United were relentless in the 2nd half against Hull and toiled until young Rashford came on and applied the golden touch his more illustrious teammates failed to do. Rashford must bide his time and learn from Ibrahimovic who has 2 seasons at most at Old Trafford. He could be part of a dynastic spine that includes De Gea, Bailly, Pogba and himself, with the added bits of Luke Shaw and Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
United to win the Derby.
Should everyone remain injury free during the international break I pick United to win the Manchester derby. While Guardiola’s team can string together some truly magical passages of play, United just look the more complete and balanced team. With Mikhitaryan in the side in the 2nd half against Hull they were simply relentless and looked like Champions especially when they came away with a victory when it didn’t look like their day. United will have to play with more pace against City(which means dropping Mata).
No Galactico policy under Zidane.
Because of his considerable heft as a club legend Zinedine Zidane has been able to eschew Madrid’s faulty galactico policy and instead chosen to promote youngsters from Castilla. The likes of Asensio and Vasquez and Casemiro and the bringing back of Morata could prove decisive as Zizou seeks to build a new identity for Real Madrid and bring Europe’s most glamorous club the dynastic achievements of old.
