Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler was delighted with his side’s performance after they beat University of Pretoria 1-0 on Saturday night.
The Buccaneers had many goal attempts and only scored in the 70th minute through Thabo Matlaba, but the coach was happy with what he saw.

“It was a fantastic performance from the boys. We played with the right intensity today,” Tinkler said.
“We had a lot of possession this game, but I thought in the first half we could have passed the ball a little bit quicker to the wide areas. They were giving us a lot of space out there.
“I knew if we kept doing the things we were doing, we would eventually find the goal, and we did that. I’m happy for the boys. Hopefully we’ve turned the corner now.
“It was important for us to get the points and get back-to-back wins.
“We’ve got another tough game coming up against Sundowns and obviously we want to collect three points there, but today the three points were massively important for us.”
The result gave Pirates a huge boost on the Absa Premiership table, moving them from 12th up to seventh.
