It’s that time of the year again folks where two of South Africas biggest rivals go head to head for three points in the Soweto Derby when Pirates host Chiefs.

xoxa1Orlando Pirates have had a torrid time in the PSL this season struggling along and are now placed 11th on the PSL log and the fans will feel their patience is getting tested. Eric Tinkler though will be quick to point out the heavy schedule his team has had to endure over the past few months. However the football analysts will be quick to point out that the league starts and ends on the same day for all the teams. Thus only a win will do here for Tinkler or it may be the last we see of him.

The Absa Premiership Trophy ©Chris Ricco/BackpagepixChiefs who are on 25 points are still in the title race though one more loss could spell the end as already they are 8 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns who are on 33 points. The Chiefs fans are growing weary of Kompela especially since it has become clear that they can’t keep a hold of their leads after they lost to Platinum Stars having conceded two goals in the dying stages. The Chiefs fans will be expecting Amakosi to keep with the log leaders or it could spell disaster for Kompela who could be recalled before the season is over.

Pitso from Sundowns and the Sundowns fans will be hoping Pirates beat Chiefs so as to eliminate a major rival in the run down for PSL.

The Soweto Derby will be played this coming Saturday the 30th of January 2016 at Soccer City and kuzofiwa. Don’t miss more updates coming from Grit Sports on the Derby.
