England scrum-half Danny Care has backed his long-term Harlequins team-mate Chris Robshaw to continue to be the national team’s captain.

Care barely featured as part of the England team led by Robshaw, which failed dismally at their host World Cup this autumn, but he has backed the 29-year-old to remain as skipper, insisting there is ‘nobody better to lead the team’.

Robshaw’s future as captain is in doubt following the disastrous campaign, the departure of Stuart Lancaster as head coach, and the fact that new boss Eddie Jones was highly critical of the flanker when writing exclusively for Sportsmail during the tournament.
