Manchester United have completed the signing of Argentinian shot stopper Sergio Romero on a free transfer from Italian Club Sampdoria. Romero is yet another player that has played for Van Gaal before to be brought into the United set up and has been brought in as likely replacement for Victor Valdes and as a back up to David De Gea. This after Valdez had a fallout with Van Gaal after refusing to play for the Uniteds reserve team and with De Gea having one year left in his contract.
Romero, 28 becomes Van Gaals 5th signing of the summer after Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matteo Darmian. Romero comes in with huge international experience having represented Argentina in the World Cup final and the Cope America final in the last year.
